A sophisticated knit polo shirt made with "Washi cotton yarn" and "Japanese knit"

This Japanese knitted polo shirt is made from threads of Mino washi paper, which has a tradition of over 1300 years, and is knitted and sewn at a long-established knitwear factory in Yamagata. Washi paper is known as "Japanese linen" because it is a natural fiber that is "dry to the touch," "lightweight," "absorbent," "quick-drying," "breathable," and has many functional benefits such as being "resistant to pilling." "TAISHI" is a buttonless polo shirt that makes the most of the appeal of this material and gives a sophisticated impression. It is a new design that gives an urban impression while reflecting traditional Japanese techniques in the material.

The aim was to create a mature fit with just the right amount of room.

Polo shirts are a more elegant look than T-shirts, and are the go-to top for summer wear that can also be worn in a cool business style. If you want to wear one both on and off the job, you might be thinking, "I don't want to look sexy with a tight silhouette, and I want to avoid oversized ones because they give a childish impression." However, the knit polo shirts currently on the market are polarized between silhouettes that cling to the body or extremely oversized sporty silhouettes, and the market seems saturated.

The focus in designing this knit polo shirt was on creating a "mature silhouette with just the right amount of room to not show the lines of the body." The shoulder width and body width are set 2-3cm wider than the fitted knit polo shirts offered by men's clothing manufacturers. The shoulders are also sloping so that it will not feel strange even if you go up a size. Compared to the wider shoulders and body width, the sleeve width and neck width are kept compact. This is a piece that fits well with everything from slim tapered pants to loose-fitting pants.

"Buttonless" design combines comfort and sophistication with the feel of a T-shirt

The design does not include buttons on the placket because we wanted the shirt to be worn like a T-shirt without worrying about how open the collar is. The lack of decorative buttons and buttonholes creates a sophisticated impression. The placket is set low enough that it will not be visible even when layered with a functional inner layer. The shirt has an open feel around the chest, but does not lose its sincere appearance.

Enjoy the luxury and dry touch of Mino washi paper and cotton fabric, also known as "Japanese linen"

Among natural materials, washi paper is said to be lightweight, with excellent deodorizing, water absorption, quick drying, and breathability. In terms of functionality, it has benefits comparable to linen, and is often referred to as Japanese linen in the industry. Among these washi papers, Mino washi paper has been produced since the Nara period, and is a traditional material with a long history that has been certified as a traditional craft and registered as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. Among the many types of washi paper, it is thin and even, and combines a soft and delicate texture with strong durability. It has a refreshing dry touch that is suitable for summer, and while it has a wealth of functional benefits, it also has a luxurious texture that is different from sporty pique or 100% polyester fabrics.

Another point is that the knitted fabric has a different look on the front and back. The front knitted fabric is made of yarn that is made by wrapping cotton in Mino washi paper using a special twisting technique and intertwining it with polyester. The fabric has a firm texture, so it creates a silhouette that does not show the lines of the body. It is also less likely to pill, so it is attractive that it will easily maintain its texture even after repeated wear.

The back side is made with AMOSSA, a strong stretch yarn that provides shape stability. The characteristics of AMOSSA tighten the knitting, giving it a tough impression even among high-gauge 12G jersey knits.
